Advanced Double Glazing Solutions: Enhancing Security, Comfort, and Style

Window & Door Glass Options.

In recent years, substantial progress has been made in glass technology for Window & Door Glass Options for Double-Glazed Windows, leading to notable enhancements in quality and energy performance. The introduction of Argon, Krypton, Xenon, or gas blends into these units has improved U-values, effectively complementing the emergence of new Energy-Rated Windows and Doors. Consequently, homeowners can now avail themselves of heightened security, soundproofing, and privacy through various innovative options. Whether the objective is to bolster home security, mitigate noise pollution, or establish a more secluded environment, our Double-Glazing Solutions cater to diverse needs.

Security Secure by Design Glass.

All ground-floor windows and doors can be upgraded to Secure by Design (SBD) standards for enhanced security. Our external glass units feature laminated glass on the outside, Energy-Efficient glass on the inside, and Argon gas to improve U-values. Additionally, clips fitted into the frame prevent the glass unit from being removed without compromising security in the event of an attack.

Soundproof Glass

Window & Door Glass Options using Pilkington Optiphon™ are designed to reduce noise levels from various sources, including road, rail, air traffic, factories, nightclubs, and emergency services. The laminated glass incorporates a special Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) interlayer. We use the recommended 6.8mm laminated glass, comprising two layers of 3mm glass with a 0.8mm PVB layer in the centre. This setup offers excellent noise reduction without compromising light transmittance or impact performance. We also recommend our Energy Efficient Insulation Tape to eliminate up to 63dB in sound transfer and improve window insulation.

Pilkington Textured Range

Window & Door Glass Options with Pilkington Glass offers a comprehensive range of 21 unique textured glass designs, including traditional patterns like Arctic and Stippolyte, which are often the builders’ choice for a neutral option, and more decorative options like Chantilly and Pelerine. New designs, Tribal and Cassini, bring a contemporary flair. All the textured glass options are available in toughened or laminated versions, ensuring your safety. These designs strike a perfect balance, allowing maximum light to filter through while maintaining your privacy, with obscuration levels rated from 1 (least obscure) to 5 (most obscure).

Pilkington Oriel Range

The Oriel Collection features etched glass designs that provide excellent light transmission while offering varying degrees of privacy. These designs have a modern, opaque appearance with a smooth, matt finish, making them attractive and functional.

S.G.O. Stained Glass Overlay.

SGO Fanlight

Our Stained Glass Overlay (SGO) is a testament to our commitment to preserving the beauty of traditional lead designs. It replicates these designs using self-adhesive lead widths of 4mm, 6mm, 9mm, and 12mm. We also offer oval and flat options in silver, black, gold, and antique. Our extensive design and colour options allow us to cut coloured films to your desired design and seal them inside the double-glazed unit. This offers a standard overlay and pressed finish on joints or soldered to replicate traditional lead lights faithfully.

Bevel Designs.

The manufacturing technique for creating bevels has evolved, but the materials have remained unchanged. The modern procedure offers advantages such as energy conservation and environmental friendliness. Bevels can now be ordered in bronze, blue, or green coloured glass or with a Gluechip face, which looks fantastic. With options for coloured film overlay and lead tape, the variety of designs and scenarios to work with glass bevels is outstanding.

Standard Window and Door Units

Our standard window and door units come with 4mm glass, either annealed or toughened, depending on the location. We use energy-efficient Low-E glass such as Pilkington K Glass™ or Pilkington Optitherm™ to prevent heat loss. This glass has an invisible coating that allows short-wave radiation from the sun into your home but doesn’t allow long-wave heat radiation to escape, creating a 28mm double-glazed unit. These units improve thermal insulation by over 50%. Our units feature 4mm Pilkington K Glass™ on the inside and a 20mm warm-edge grey spacer bar. Double-glazed windows with a warm-edge spacer have a warmer internal edge temperature of up to 65%, enhancing the window’s thermal efficiency and reducing the risk of condensation.

Warm-Edge Spacer Bar

A warm-edge spacer bar also significantly lowers the temperature differential between the centre and edge of the unit and causes up to 94% reduced heat loss (or heat gain) at the external edge of your window. Warm-edge technology benefits not only the environment but also your pocket. Significantly reducing heat loss can lower a home’s heat consumption or air conditioning requirements, leading to potential savings on fuel bills. The warm-edge spacer bar comes in three colours: Grey 7045, Black 9005, and White 9016 and ranges in sizes 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24 mm spacer bar widths to accommodate different glass thicknesses and glass unit sizes required for triple glazing.

Double- Seal.

A specially designed non-metallic tape is attached to the sealant contact area on the Thermobar tube to create a moisture—and gas-resistant barrier. This provides a significant advantage over stainless steel or aluminium foil systems. The non-metallic design, combined with the bar’s very low glass fibre content, means that ‘A’ rated windows can be easily achieved with the correct frame and glass combinations. The anticipated values are expected to be below a psi value of 0.034 W/mK in an uPVC window frame.

Toughened Glass Units

All glass below 800mm from the internal floor height must be safety glass, either laminated or toughened, which is 2-4 times stronger than ordinary glass. 6mm toughened glass is a premium option, offering 50% more material than the 4mm alternative and providing superior thermal insulation and sound reduction (up to 49dB). This glass is an excellent choice for enhanced security and durability.

Equal Site Lines.

Equal Site lines, Dummy Vent.

Equal sightlines or dummy vents are architectural features that replicate the aesthetic of traditional wood windows with false vents. These elements are usually hinged like typical casement windows yet incorporate a discreet locking mechanism, ensuring they remain permanently secured upon closure.

Leaded Designs.

Window & Door Glass Options We can replicate most lead designs, such as square, rectangular, diamond, and Queen Anne styles and intricate and delicate patterns. Please provide a picture of your desired design, and we will work to recreate it.

Astragal Bar or Georgian Bar.

Georgian Bar

Georgian bars are placed inside the glass to make cleaning the windows easier. The 18mm and 25mm Georgian bars can be arranged in different configurations, such as a grid, a crucifix, a single vertical or horizontal bar, or even an arched bar.

Alternatively, we have 45 x 10mm bars available only in White. They can be installed vertically or horizontally and have no grid options.

Astragal bars and Georgian bars are architectural elements that give windows a traditional Georgian-style look. Astragal bars are designed to create the illusion of smaller sections on the window pane, with individual bars breaking up the glass unit. This design element replicates the appearance of traditional wooden sash windows or vertical slider windows, adding a touch of classic charm to the overall aesthetic of the window.
