How long does double glazing last?

Will new windows actually reduce my heating bills?
Yes. Old, single-glazed or poorly sealed windows are one of the biggest sources of heat loss in most homes. Our A+ rated windows, combined with our Hybratec insulation tape at the frame joint, are designed to stop draughts and heat loss at both the glass and the perimeter seal — not just on paper, but in your home.
What’s the insulation tape you use, and why does it matter?
On brick-to-brick installations, we seal the joint between the frame and the brickwork using ISO-Bloco Hybratec tape rather than the expanding foam or cheap silicone most companies still rely on. Foam and silicone shrink and crack over time as the building moves through the seasons, letting draughts back in. Our tape stays flexible for around 40 years, is fully airtight on the inside while still letting trapped moisture escape outward, and is independently certified to Passive House standard — protecting the energy rating you’ve actually paid for.
Can you help with noise from traffic or neighbours?
Yes. Acoustic glazing options can significantly cut down external noise, and pairing this with our Hybratec insulation tape improves things further still — sealing the frame-to-brickwork joint reduces sound transmission through that gap by up to 60dB, compared to as little as 10dB with traditional foam or silicone sealing. Between the glass and the seal, the difference in a noisy area can be dramatic.
Do I need triple glazing to get an A+ rating, or is double glazing enough?
Double glazing is enough for an A+ rating in the vast majority of cases — it’s the glass specification (Low-E coating, argon fill, warm-edge spacer) that makes the real difference, not simply adding a third pane. Triple glazing is what takes performance up to A++, our highest rating.
