If your windows are draughty, noisy, or letting the heat straight out through the glass, double glazing is one of the most effective upgrades you can make to your home. At Southeast Windows, we’ve been supplying and fitting double glazing across East London and Essex since 1999 — as a small, family-run FENSA-registered installer, not a national sales operation.
What’s Included
Every double-glazed window we install uses uPVC frames built around a sealed unit specification designed for real performance, not just a box-ticking exercise:
- Glass: high-performance double glazed units with an argon-filled cavity for improved thermal insulation
- Spacer bar: Superspacer Premium warm-edge spacer, which reduces cold bridging and condensation risk at the edge of the glass compared to older aluminium spacer bars
- Security: Apex shootbolt locking as standard on casement windows, tested to PAS24:2022 and Secured by Design accredited
- Weatherproofing: ISO-Bloco Hybratec perimeter sealing tape around the frame on standard brick-to-brick installations, giving a fully weathertight, expansion-tolerant seal that keeps out draughts and damp for the long term
- Guarantee: FENSA registration plus a comprehensive insurance-backed guarantee (IWG) on every installation, alongside our own manufacturer’s guarantee
Why Double Glazing Makes a Difference
Lower energy bills. A well-sealed double glazed unit keeps the heat you’re paying for inside your home, rather than losing it through single-pane glass or worn-out frames.
Reduced noise. The sealed air gap between panes cuts down on external noise — a genuine difference if you’re near a main road, the North Circular A406, A13, South Circular or a flight path.
Better security. Old timber or aluminium windows are often the weakest point in a home’s security. Modern uPVC frames with multi-point locking are far harder to force.
Less condensation. Warm-edge spacer technology and properly sealed units significantly reduce the risk of internal condensation and mould associated with older, failing double glazing.
A superior seal around the frame. On standard brick-to-brick installations, we use ISO-Bloco Hybratec perimeter tape rather than relying on sealant alone — it seals the full perimeter of the frame while flexing with natural building movement, giving a genuinely weathertight, draught-free fit that lasts far longer than a basic sealant job.

Costs vary depending on the number of windows, size, and specifications. We provide a single, clear quote after a free survey — no per-item pricing games.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are completed within a single day for replacement Composite doors, though larger jobs may take longer. We’ll confirm timing at the survey stage.
Do I need planning permission for double glazing?
Most replacement double glazing falls under permitted development and doesn’t require planning permission, though listed buildings and conservation areas may have restrictions. We can advise during your survey.
What guarantee comes with my new windows?
Every FENSA-registered installation comes with a manufacturer’s guarantee plus an insurance-backed guarantee through IWG (Insured Windows Guarantees Ltd, FCA No. 310784), covering you for up to 10 years depending on the element of work.
