Composite Doors in London
Sealed Tight, Fitted Right™ · Insulation Tape on Brick-to-Brick Installs

Forget the flimsy, hollow-feeling composite doors that give the industry a bad name. Every composite door we fit is a genuine 44mm Solid Core door — not the foam-filled shell most “composite” doors are made from.
As always, there’s no pressure and no sales pitch — just an honest look at what suits your home.
The Solid Core Difference: Engineered for Security, Strength and Lasting Performance
Most “composite” doors on the market are just cheaper foam-filled shells — better-looking than a uPVC door, but that’s often where the upgrade ends. A typical foam-filled door is built from two thin plastic skins bonded around a hollow frame, then injected with foam — quick and light to make, but it’s mostly air inside. The outer colour on those doors is usually a sprayed-on gel coat, which can fade and scratch over time.
We do things differently. Every door we install is built from sixteen layers of laminated timber, glued and pressed together under heat with the grain of each layer running in a different direction. That cross-grain construction is what stops timber doors from warping or splitting over time — the layers work against each other’s natural movement instead of all shifting the same way.
The outer skin is different too — a solid ABS/uPVC thermoplastic rather than a painted gel coat, so the colour runs through the material itself instead of sitting on top. That means better resistance to scratching and fading, and a door that’s easier to keep looking new.
The difference is obvious the moment you close it: a proper, weighted thud, not a hollow knock.

A door that looks as good as it performs
Every Solid Core door we install is built to the same standard, whatever colour or style you choose. This one’s finished in White — a genuine 44mm engineered core behind a clean, classic finish, designed to look like a typical 2XG door: raised panels in the bottom and glass at the top. It comes with a large letterbox and a high-security barrel lock, with large handles for easy entry and exit.
Composite Door Styles
The Solid Core range comes in a wide selection of named door styles, from traditional panelled designs through to clean, contemporary looks — plus dedicated Urban and Contemporary collections if you want something more modern. Whatever the age and style of your home, there’s a design to match it.
Composite Door Colours
We fit Solid Core doors in all the popular finishes:
- White
- Black
- Anthracite Grey
- Irish Oak
- Light Oak
These come as white on the inside as standard, with full colour on both sides also available if you’d prefer the same finish inside and out. Beyond this range, there’s a much wider palette available too — including dual-foil doors with a different colour inside and out, so the street sees one colour and your hallway sees another. Ask us about the full range when we visit.

Composite Door Security Features
- Ultion 3-star cylinder — anti-pick, anti-bump, anti-drill, and backed by Ultion’s own £5,000 security guarantee against snap attacks. It’s the lock the police and insurers prefer, for good reason. A thumb-turn version is available where you’d like to lock up from the inside without needing a key.
- Yale Athena hinges — heavy-duty, fully adjustable hinges that keep the door hanging true for years, not just on installation day.
On brick-to-brick installations, every door we fit is also sealed as standard with our insulation tape around the frame — it seals the perimeter between the brickwork and the door frame, keeping the fit airtight and weathertight rather than relying on mastic alone.
Document M Compliant
Solid Core doors are available in Document M compliant configurations for both inward and outward opening — worth knowing if step-free access matters for your home.

FAQ
Are composite doors as secure as they look?
Yes — with a solid engineered core, a 3-star anti-snap cylinder, and adjustable hinges, a Solid Core door is one of the most secure options you can fit, not just the best-looking.
Can I get a different colour inside and outside?
Yes — dual-foil doors let you choose one colour for the outside and a different one for the inside.
Do I need planning permission for a new front door?
In most cases, no — replacing a front or back door with one of a similar appearance falls under Permitted Development rights, so planning permission usually isn’t required. There are exceptions, such as listed buildings or conservation areas, so it’s always worth checking the Planning Portal or your local authority if you’re unsure.
